Navigating the Reception App

Here is a quick overview of everything you can see and do inside the Reception App. A screen recording walkthrough is also available alongside this article.

Choosing your event

At the top of the screen, you will see the current event name. Tap the dropdown to open the event switcher and select the event you want to work in.

Settings

In the top right corner, tap the Settings icon. From here you can manage your Square hardware connection and view a transaction report for the current event, including total revenue, cash payments, card payments, and all transactions combined.

Guest list and search

Below the top bar is the search field. Type any guest name to find them on the list quickly. Next to the search bar, there is a card display toggle that lets you control what information shows on each guest card. You can turn the following on or off:

  • Ticket type

  • Invited by

  • Tags

QR scanner

Next to the search bar, tap the QR button to open the scanner. This lets you scan a Guest Line pass and process the associated payment directly.

Pending and Completed

The guest list is split into two tabs. Pending shows all guests who have not yet been admitted. Completed shows all guests who have been admitted and paid.

Quick Actions

On the left panel, swipe to Quick Actions to see all ticket types assigned to the current event. Each ticket type appears as a tile with its price. Quick Action tiles are for walk-ins only. Tap a tile to charge someone who is not on the guestlist and process their entry on the spot. There is also an edit button to adjust the price if needed, though this may be disabled for some Receptionist accounts depending on permissions set in the web app.

For guests already on the guestlist, tap their name card directly. Their ticket type and price are pre-assigned, so the charge is processed against that automatically.

Filters

Swipe the left panel across to Filters to narrow down the guest list by ticket type, admission status, or invited by.
