How to process payments

There are two ways to process payments in the Reception App: card via Square hardware, or cash. A screen recording walkthrough is also available alongside this article.

Building your cart

Before processing any payment, you build a cart. You can add items in any combination:

  • Tap a Quick Action tile to add a walk-in ticket. Tap it again to add another of the same type.

  • Tap a guest name card to add them to the cart. Their pre-assigned ticket type and price are added automatically.

You can combine both in the same cart, for example adding a guest from the list alongside a walk-in ticket type before proceeding.

Reviewing and editing the cart

Once you are ready, tap Proceed to open the review screen. Here you can see everything in the cart as individual line items, including guest names and ticket types. Before paying, you can:

  • Change a ticket type by tapping the ticket type on that line item and selecting a new one

  • Remove items from the cart

Taking a card payment

Once the cart looks correct, tap Pay. This will fire the connected Square Terminal or Square Reader to take the payment. Once Square confirms the payment, the app returns to the main screen automatically.

Taking a cash payment

To process cash, tap the green Cash button on the left side of the screen. A confirmation screen will appear before the transaction is completed.
